Why choose a Macbook?
There are a lot of different reasons why you may choose a Macbook over an iPad, but we think one of the most important ones to consider is what you’ll be doing on the device. Whilst the on screen keyboard helps to make tablets lighter and more portable it also means that typing for long periods of time or regularly can be more difficult. So if, for example, you work mostly with emails and typed documents, having a keyboard is likely a priority.
Similarly, if you are sitting at a desk or elsewhere in an upright position for the majority of the time you are using the device, having a laptop will likely be more comfortable to use and promote better posture. The screen can be angled to make viewing more comfortable and the keyboard will rest nicely on your desk or lap.
Planning to use your device for studying? You might find that your college or university requires you to access an online portal which is much simpler to do from a Macbook in comparison to an iPad. Plus, you have the added advantage of being able to easily plug your laptop into a screen with USB C, HDMI or similar in order to work collaboratively or give a presentation.
Finally, if you consider yourself a budding gamer, a Macbook may be a more suitable choice for you. With the ability to download programmes such as Origin and Steam you can easily access your games library. Plus you can plug in an external mouse or controller to make the gaming experience more enjoyable.
Why choose an iPad?
If the above options don’t apply or only partially apply then an iPad might be right for you.
Firstly, if you already have a home computer from which you carry out the majority of your work then an iPad might compliment your work style and allow you to do more whilst on the go. For example, if you review documents or read reports you might find an iPad is a great option. You can read on the go and in a variety of places in which a laptop might not be an option such as on the bus or whilst in the gym.
Furthermore, an iPad is incredibly simple to use, you can quickly access the internet, jump on a video call or look at emails. For studying and work purposes they can definitely come in handy whilst learning/working from home.
Students in particular may love how easy it is to make notes with an additional Apple Pencil or read textbooks. Notes, files and images can easily be shared between devices, meaning the resources you use or make in class on your iPad will be available at home on an iMac.
Lastly, watching videos, playing mobile games and socialising is all made simple with an iPad. You can download a plethora of apps to keep in touch with loved ones, have access to infinite videos and find your favourite app store games. So if you want to use your device for socialising or entertainment an iPad might be the best option for you.
